FAFSA FAQ
What if my parent/parents don't have a social security number?
If your parent/parents don't have a social security number (SSN), when the form asks for their SSN, simply put all zeros and click next. An error message will pop up, click next again, and after the third time it should let you move on to the next part of the application. When you complete your FAFSA, because your parent would not have been able to make an FSA ID, you will need to print the submission form and your parent will need to physically sign it and mail it to FAFSA headquarters (more information HERE).
My parents are divorced, who do I put on my FAFSA?
If your parents are divorced you must provide information from the parent you live with the most within the past 12 months. If you spend exactly 50/50 with both parents, it is to your discretion which parent's information you choose to put, however you will get more financial aid if a parent makes less income.
